Influence of Herbicides and Irrigation on Tall Fescue Shoot and Root Growth

When turfgrass stands are under renovation, a common problem is removing weeds prior to seeding because seedling turf does not emerge and compete well with that present. However, most herbicide labels recommend waiting for defined period of time seeding. If done the date prescribed on label, seed germination growth may be inhibited. A greenhouse study was conducted determine effects irrigation after application. Overall, had no influence impact herbicides shoot or root in these experiments. Our results suggest delaying by more than 3 days application 2,4-D + MCPP dicamba (Trimec Classic) necessary.
